   Cadet Programs

The cadet program is open to all youth from the ages of 12 to 21 years of age. It develops the potential of each individual cadet by the means of aerospace education, leadership training, and physical fitness. More than 20,000 youth from the United States and Puerto Rico progress through a 15-step program with interesting aviation and aerospace activities occuring at a local and national level.

CAP adult members help to inspire and encourage cadets that are interested in aviation or military careers. Many parents and educators credit the cadet program for communicating the importance of integrity, self-discipline, and trust in their children's success.

Did you kow that 10% of all Air Force Academy cadets are also former CAP cadets??? Over 200 former cadets have also attended West Point. Another amazing fact is that over 150 of the Civil Air Patrol's former cadets have gone on to the Naval Academy. Did you also know that three of the first four women accepted to the Virginia Military Institute were CAP cadets???

As an added perk, any cadet who earns their General Billy Mitchell Award is eligible to enlist in the Air Force at a higher pay grade.
